How to know yourself

That one-day seminar changed my life.

I felt free and had permission to be me. My first seminar on knowing myself kick started my personal growth. I discovered I was OK and so were my husband, children, siblings and even people with whom sometimes I had a bit of trouble.

Even brothers and sisters are different
How can five loving brothers and sisters from one family be so different? Greg, Ron, me, Penny and Lesley

I learned we might be complete opposites but I still count and so do you. It was Florence Littauer who taught me about personality types and how we need to celebrate our differences instead of their being a source of irritation. After my husband ‘got it’ too, he wrote a book about it and Florence endorsed his work.

A fun test

I will give you 40 multi-choice questions to help you discover something about yourself.

  • You will learn about your strengths – and your weaknesses.
  • You’ll gain some insight into your preferences.
  • Do people energise you or wear you out?
  • Does everything have to be done yesterday or can it wait till tomorrow or next week or maybe next month?
  • Is there a right way to do everything or does that stifle your creativity?
  • Are you the leader or the follower?

We make choices everyday.

These choices are conscious decisions based on our beliefs and what we value.

If I asked you to tell me what you believe I’m sure you’d have little trouble in rattling of at least twenty or more things.
If I asked you to tell me what you value I’m sure you’d rattle off some, but peter out sooner than you did talking about your beliefs.

Examine your values.

I will share a list of values for you to prioritize in order of importance to you. This exercise will bring your values into your conscious mind so you better understand the choices you make.

You are what you think.

Did you know that we talk to ourselves all day, everyday. What do you tell yourself?
The message you give yourself might be positive, negative or a mixture of both.
Are these words familiar? ‘I should… I ought…I can’t…’
