This will make you blink
Every month my dear Dad has an injection in his eye as treatment for a deteriorating macular. Before he leaves the hospital he puts on his sunglasses to filter the sunlight away from his sensitive eye. He sometimes has to wear them inside the house on sunny days. As you know, wearing sunglasses changes your perspective. The sea is bluer, the grass is greener and you can see more detail because the glare is diminished. My Dad puts on an external filter.
Our heart, mind and soul have internal filters.
You have your own unique filters
Our filters develop with our life experience and from our learning. We each have our own unique filters. Yours may be similar to someone else’s but they are not the same. Our personality and experiences make us different
We are familiar with the pessimist who says that the glass with some water in it is half empty and the optimist sees the glass as half full, whereas the engineer says there’s far too much glass for that amount of water. Our life experiences and learning shape our perspective of others, the world and ourselves. Our values, perceptions and beliefs then influence our decisions in everything we do and say.
In the last post I wrote about the words we speak and how those words we say are writing our yearbook. I wrote about right thinking so good words would flow through us. Today, I am considering the words of Jesus. If we pay attention to everything Jesus said, we would have a very kingdom oriented filter to see life through.
Jesus’ words will affect the things we do and say.
Consider what Jesus says about you? Jesus’ words will affect the things we do and say. Consider what He says about widows, orphans, prisoners, the poor, meekness, self-control, compassion, discipline, mercy, governments, leaders, women, revenge, advocating for the marginalized, perseverance, suffering, grace and much more.
